The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Ironwood at home and fell 68-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunrise Mountain has scored all season.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jason Higgins, who scored six points along with ten rebounds. Andrew Balian was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Blake Carabio continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ironwood, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Carabio has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gifft, who scored 15 points.
Sunrise Mountain has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Ironwood, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 21-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will stay at home for another game and welcome Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Ironwood will take on Kellis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kellis is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
