Jamestown is 1-9 against Tabb since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Jamestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Jamestown came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against New Kent, falling 19-4.
Allie Mair made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Jill Tarkington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Tabb made easy work of Lafayette on Tuesday and carried off a 13-1 win. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.
Milenah Camacho made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alayna Davidson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rosemary Remington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Tabb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette only managed four.
Tabb's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Jamestown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Jamestown's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tabb, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Jamestown continue to outrun the ball?
Jamestown got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Tabb by a conclusive 19-5 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
