The North Fort Myers Red Knights fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverdale on Friday and snuck past 24-22. For North Fort Myers, this counts as revenge for the 13-9 loss Riverdale walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2021.
Andre Costa got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 66 receiving yards. Costa was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 66 yards. Virgil Maloy also helped out as he racked up 134 rushing yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to North Fort Myers' defense and their four sacks. Riverdale's QB won't forget Jordan Carr anytime soon given Carr sacked him twice.
Riverdale's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cole Hayes, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Lovensky Blanchard also helped out as he racked up 105 rushing yards.
