Basketball Recap: Jefferson Academy Piles Up the Points Against Valley

There's no place like home for Jefferson Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-40 victory over the Valley Vikings. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jefferson Academy was led to victory by Jimeto Orji and Dawson Smith. Orji shot 53% from the field on his way to 28 points and six rebounds, while Smith posted 16 points along with six assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Henry Vidmar also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Jefferson Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Maddox Woolverton and Caleb Dudley certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Woolverton scored 19 points and three steals, while Dudley earned seven points and five boards. Woolverton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Jefferson Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Jefferson Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Skyview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley, they have already played their next game, an 82-46 defeat against Frontier Academy on the 16th.
