The St. Francis Red Raiders lost against the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. St. Francis fell 60-48 to the Marauders. St. Francis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, St. Francis still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Neely, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lindstrom, who scored nine points.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mahli Shabazz out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shabazz has scored all season. Jay?meir Goosby was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
St. Francis dropped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.
St. Francis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Cardinal O'Hara will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 220th). As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Griffin Smith and Goosby.
