The Godwin Eagles will face off against the Glen Allen Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Glen Allen will be up against a hot Godwin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 14. The Eagles blew past Hanover 8-1 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly seven runs.
Katelyn Hubley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Carter Dunham was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laney Poulos, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Godwin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Glen Allen and Deep Run meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Jaguars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 7-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Jaidyn Tillman's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Ashton Limbach and Alison Via did most of the damage at the plate: Limbach got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Via went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Limbach a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Hueston, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Glen Allen's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Godwin, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Godwin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glen Allen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Godwin's way against Glen Allen in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Godwin made off with a 13-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
