The West Clermont Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Loveland Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully West Clermont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought game, but West Clermont had to settle for a 37-35 defeat against Walnut Hills. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West Clermont came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Walnut Hills is ranked 158th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Paige Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schmidt, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Loveland beat Anderson 49-37 on Thursday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Loveland has managed all season.
West Clermont's defeat ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2. As for Loveland, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
West Clermont strolled past Loveland in their previous matchup back in November by a score of 39-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Clermont since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
