Even though the Lamar County Trojans have not done well against the Jackson Red Devils recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lamar County strolled past Jackson with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. For Lamar County, this counts as revenge for the 71-57 defeat Jackson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Josh Goodrum and Ziggy Benton certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Goodrum scored 12 points, while Benton scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Roberts, who scored eight points.
Lamar County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jackson, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Lamar County will be playing at home against Mary Persons at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mary Persons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against Social Circle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Social Circle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
