The NSU University Sharks will head out on the road to take on the North Broward Prep Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in NSU University's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Chaminade-Madonna scored an imposing 72 points on Tuesday, NSU University still came out on top. NSU University strolled past Chaminade-Madonna with points to spare, taking the game 88-72. Given NSU University's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Ferrer and Dwight Gaines were among the main playmakers for NSU University as the former scored 22 points and the latter scored 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaines has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Granville, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, North Broward Prep came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by American Heritage at home to the tune of 62-26. North Broward Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
North Broward Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raul Perez ruiz led the charge by scoring 24 points along with three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Perez ruiz has scored at least a third of North Broward Prep's points. Pavle Djeric was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
NSU University's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for North Broward Prep, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. NSU University hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 75.4 points per game. However, it's not like North Broward Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
NSU University beat North Broward Prep 67-60 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for NSU University since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
