The Chiefland Indians lost against the Madison County Cowboys back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chiefland was dealt a 44-2 loss at the hands of Madison County. While losing is never fun, Chiefland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Madison County is ranked 55th).
Thomas Pettigrew threw for 50 yards on ten of 23 attempts.
John Christian was on fire for Madison County: he rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Christian was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryshard Miller, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Chiefland now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Madison County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland will square off against Frostproof at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison County, they will head out on the road to face off against Rickards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
