Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Liberty's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

After only one run in their last matchup, Liberty made sure to put some runs up on the board against Griggsville-Perry on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 15-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Chandler John made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Dietrich, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Shea Ionson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Griggsville-Perry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 18-8 win against Astoria/VIT on the 8th. As for Griggsville-Perry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on the 8th.
