The Amundsen Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Lane Tech Champions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Amundsen barely beat Northside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 15-2 win on Monday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Allie Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Araceli Condie-Espinosa was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anneliese Otero, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Lane Tech came out on top against Saint Ignatius College Prep on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Champions were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Wolfpack. Winning may never get old, but the Champions sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Gianna Phillips was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Grace Bush was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lane Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive games.
Lane Tech pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Amundsen, their record is now 10-5.
Amundsen's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lane Tech, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Amundsen continue to outrun the ball?
Amundsen might still be hurting after the 17-3 defeat they got from Lane Tech in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
