The Box Elder Bees will take on the Clearfield Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Box Elder had taken Northridge down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Bees came up short against the Knights, falling 16-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bees have suffered against the Knights since May 11, 2022.
Jensen Kennedy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Easton Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Wight, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Clearfield got the win against Roy on Monday by a conclusive 14-3. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won eight in a row.
Taven Swartz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Swartz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clearfield got a massive performance out of Hudson Meyer, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Meyer has become a key player for the Falcons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Fenn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Clearfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Clearfield pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Box Elder, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Box Elder beat Clearfield 7-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bees have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
