The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs will head out to challenge the Homestead Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Archbishop Mitty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Archbishop Mitty will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Carlmont on Tuesday. Archbishop Mitty walked away with a 13-8 win over Carlmont. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.
Kyleigh Mace tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Rylie Hicks and Olivia Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Hicks went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Anderson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in April of 2024. Gianna Catalano also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Archbishop Mitty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Homestead put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Half Moon Bay get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Mackenzie Smith's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
At the plate, Homestead's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leela Menon, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Archbishop Mitty's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their record is now 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Archbishop Mitty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Homestead struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
