After two games on the road, Pelham is heading back home. They will take on The Chilton County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Pelham came up short against Homewood and fell 31-21. Pelham was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Pelham's loss came about despite a quality game from Clayton Mains, who threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Chilton County suffered a rough 34-13 loss at the hands of Homewood two weeks ago. Despite 123 more yards than Homewood, Chilton County couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dj Jackson, who rushed for 131 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards.
The team's defense also tried their best in the loss by holding Homewood to a paltry 235 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chilton County's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ricardo Parker and his two sacks.
Pelham's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Chilton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Everything went Pelham's way against Chilton County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Pelham made off with a 28-7 win. Does Pelham have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chilton County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
