Basketball Recap: Discovery Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Discovery picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They managed a 76-72 win over the Palm Beach Lakes Rams. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Rams are ranked 529th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jeremy Nixon was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points and eight boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Jordan Gunter was another key player, posting 16 points and six rebounds.

Discovery has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Palm Beach Lakes, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Santa Fe Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th. Palm Beach Lakes also won't see the court for a while: their next matchup is against Santaluces at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th.
