Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Roxana's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Roxana won the last time they faced Freeburg, and Sean Maberry did his part to make sure it happened again. The Roxana Shells walked away with a 51-39 win over the Freeburg Midgets on Tuesday thanks in part to Maberry, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Freeburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Fritz, who posted seven points and three steals. Brady Kerr was another key player, putting up ten points along with six boards and five steals.

Roxana is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Freeburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Roxana will head out to challenge Breese Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roxana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season. As for Freeburg, they will host East Alton-Wood River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Freeburg is facing East Alton-Wood River at the right time seeing as East Alton-Wood River is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
