After a string of seven wins, the Carrollton Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Alliance by a score of 52-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carrollton came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Alliance is ranked 393rd).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Demi Leary, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brae Roudebush, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Carrollton's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2. As for Alliance, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrollton will face off against Claymont at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Claymont is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Alliance, they will head out on the road to face off against West Branch at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. West Branch's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so Alliance's offense will have their work cut out for Alliance.
