The Lewis-Palmer Rangers were the 44-41 winner over the Lutheran Lions when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Lewis-Palmer took a serious blow against Lutheran on Thursday, falling 56-29. Lewis-Palmer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-11.
Lewis-Palmer's loss came despite strong showings from Brooke Lordino and Kendall Lane. Lordino scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks, while Lane scored nine points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Lordino posted two or more blocks.
Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Berkley Schneider, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela-zoe Colon, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Lewis-Palmer's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis-Palmer will take on Discovery Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Discovery Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Air Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lutheran is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
