Xavier Carranza made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carranza was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played.
In other batting news, Grant Dragon was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jayse Alvarado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Three Rivers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Pryor only posted an OBP of .385.
Meanwhile, Falls City waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Trojans.
The team relied heavily on Dale Shaffer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Falls City is undefeated when Shaffer posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Teagen Wuest also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Three Rivers pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Falls City, their record is now 13-8.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Three Rivers has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Falls City struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Three Rivers took their victory against Falls City in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
