It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Palmer Trinity 66-63. The victory was just what Archbishop Carroll needed coming off of a 71-44 defeat in their prior matchup.
Archbishop Carroll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luka Vlahovic, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Diego Astudillo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, Palmer Trinity still got an impressive performance from Graham Yanowitch, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Yanowitch hasn't dropped below 15points for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Harrison Miles, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Palmer Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop Carroll only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Archbishop Carroll's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Palmer Trinity, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Carroll will take on iMater Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmer Trinity, they will head out on the road to face off against Pine Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
