Portsmouth's Matt Greenman recorded the longest rushing play in Division I this season in his game against Bishop Hendricken last week. Greenman ran for 78 yards on the play and finished with 78 on the day as his team topped the Hawks.
Portsmouth extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bishop Hendricken, 39-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
The Patriots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chavous Bobby threw for 152 and two touchdowns and Sewall Matthew had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Bobby chipped in 170 yards. Greenman helped Portsmouth's passing attack out by catching four balls for 48 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Anthony Francis of La Salle Academy is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1412. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Portsmouth's Austin Szczepaniak has rushed for 764 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Greenman. The Portsmouth star has 22 catches for 619 yards.
The marquee game in Division I this week will be the clash between the Rams and Barrington. La Salle Academy enters the contest ranked second in the state, while the Eagles ranks 17th.
There should be lots of points scored when the Patriots and Cranston East face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Portsmouth comes in having scored 254 this season, while the Thunderbolts have scored 225. The Patriots scored 39 points last week as they defeated Keith Croft's team.
Tolman took down East Providence 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
