Sodus extended their winning streak to 13 on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 13-0 in the process. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Williamson Marauders. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.
The team relied heavily on Garrett Barron, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Laird, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sodus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
As for Williamson, they moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Williamson's side, David DeFisher was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. DeFisher was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Caiden Watson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Coming up, Sodus will face off against East Rochester at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Bombers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Williamson, they have already played their next game, a 15-5 win against Webber on the 10th.
