Even though Aurora Central Catholic scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, St. Francis still came out on top. St. Francis took their game against Aurora Central Catholic 66-55. With that victory, St. Francis brought their scoring average up to 52.4 points per game.
St. Francis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Austin led the charge by scoring 22 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Austin has scored at least 25% of St. Francis' points. Another player making a difference was T?a Rubino, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Laurence is still undefeated this season after their match against Rich Township last Tuesday, but Rich Township came as close as anyone has to beating them. St. Laurence came out on top in a nail-biter against Rich Township and snuck past 54-51. With that win, St. Laurence brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Kathleen Martin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with 6 steals. Martin is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Burzycki, who scored 10 points along with 5 steals.
Their wins bumped St. Francis to 4-1 and Aurora Central Catholic to 6-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as St. Francis and St. Laurence are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. St. Francis hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.4 points per game. It's a different story for St. Laurence, though, as they've been averaging only 50.2 per game.
