The Douglas County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Langston Hughes on the road and fell 68-41. While losing is never fun, Douglas County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Langston Hughes is ranked 34th).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reagan Freeman, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Charla Young, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Langston Hughes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylar-Rae Johnson, who scored 16 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Jasmine Baxter was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Douglas County's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Langston Hughes, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas County will take on Paulding County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Langston Hughes, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. Francis at 2:00 p.m. St. Francis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
