Basketball Recap: First Baptist Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Washington Classical Christian

First Baptist Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Washington Classical Christian Warriors to the tune of 56-28. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 27 points or more this season.

First Baptist Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Julia (Jay) Rose, who went 8 of 20 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Rose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliza Ouwsey, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

First Baptist Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Washington Classical Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chloe Krulcik went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for Krulcik.

First Baptist Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Washington Classical Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Atlantic at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. First Baptist Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. Washington Classical Christian also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against St. Joseph Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
