Wellington-Napoleon is 3-0 against Polo since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Last Friday, Wellington-Napoleon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to St. Paul Lutheran.
Despite their defeat, Wellington-Napoleon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Haden Terrill, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Lucas Waterworth was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Wellington-Napoleon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Polo came up short against Braymer on Friday and fell 48-41. Polo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wellington-Napoleon now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Polo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Everything went Wellington-Napoleon's way against Polo in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 as Wellington-Napoleon made off with a 68-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wellington-Napoleon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
