The Burton Adventist Academy Angels's five-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Monday. They managed a 63-58 victory over UME Preparatory Academy. Burton Adventist Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Several EAGLES players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Barnes, who scored 23 points. The match was Barnes' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ben Stevens was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Burton Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for UME Preparatory Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burton Adventist Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Paul's Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. UME Preparatory Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Advantage Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Advantage Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
