After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Archbishop Shaw, the South Plaquemines Hurricanes were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Belle Chasse 47-44. The win was all the more spectacular given South Plaquemines' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Belle Chasse is ranked 93rd).
South Plaquemines' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyrin Davis, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Deanel McGee, who scored 9 points along with 16 rebounds.
Belle Chasse's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alex Richardson, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Hughes Ingram, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
The win got South Plaquemines back to even at 4-4. As for Belle Chasse, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Phoenix the next time they take the court. Belle Chasse will head out to face Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while South Plaquemines will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
