Pinellas Park is 1-9 against St. Petersburg since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pinellas Park Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the St. Petersburg Green Devils at 7:00 p.m. Pinellas Park will be strutting in after a victory while St. Petersburg will be coming in after a defeat.
Pinellas Park was handed a 25-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Dunedin on Wednesday. Pinellas Park had just enough and edged Dunedin out 53-50. The victory was just what Pinellas Park needed coming off of a 64-39 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, St. Petersburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 40-36 to East Lake. St. Petersburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, St. Petersburg saw an underclassman step up: Quay Curry scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nique Slone, who scored six points along with two steals.
Pinellas Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for St. Petersburg, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Pinellas Park couldn't quite finish off St. Petersburg when the teams last played on January 11th and fell 49-46. Can Pinellas Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
