Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Snow Canyon Warriors

Pine View hasn't had much luck against Snow Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pine View Panthers will be home for the holidays to greet the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Pine View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.

Snow Canyon is hoping to do what Rancho couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Pine View's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Pine View came out on top in a nail-biter against Rancho, sneaking past 60-58.

Pine View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Moore, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points. The contest was Moore's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelani Odjegba, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Snow Canyon lost to Crimson Cliffs at home by a 63-44 margin on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Snow Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Issaiah Thompson went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gil Lamoreaux, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Pine View is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Snow Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pine View has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Pine View lost to Snow Canyon at home by a decisive 69-53 margin in their previous matchup back in February. Thankfully for Pine View, Owen Mackay (who went 13 of 26 on his way to 38 points and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
