Vanguard has gone 8-2 against Lake Weir recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Vanguard will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Mount Dora on Wednesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Hurricanes. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Davis and Destiny Horcajo made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Davis struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Horcajo pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Davis has posted since back in April of 2024. At bat, Davis scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Horcajo scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Horcajo also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
