This season hasn't been kind to the Fairborn Skyhawks, who are still winless after their 12th contest. They took a 42-28 bruising from Xenia on Wednesday. Fairborn has struggled against Xenia recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Xenia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayler Elliott, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Alaiya Meaux was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Fairborn's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.2 points per game. As for Xenia, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairborn will take on Stebbins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Stebbins presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fairborn in Ohio (Stebbins is ranked 260th, while Fairborn is ranked 744th). As for Xenia, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Piqua at 6:00 p.m. Piqua comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
