It was a good run, but the Provo Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 56-44 to Layton Christian Academy. Provo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Layton Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Loss or not, Provo got some senior leadership from Finn Powelson and Jason Carter. Powelson scored 12 points, while Carter. almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Carter has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Trey Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Layton Christian Academy was led to victory by Tyrin Jones and Alan Gballou. Jones scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two blocks, while Gballou scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Luka Kulundzic, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Provo's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8. As for Layton Christian Academy, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Provo will square off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
