The Grandview Wolves had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 60-54 win over Smoky Hill on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Grandview's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Smoky Hill is ranked seventh).
Grandview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Riddick out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Riddick has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Sevy, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Smoky Hill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Basquez, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kaylan Graham, who scored 15 points.
Grandview's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14. As for Smoky Hill, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season.
Grandview will head out on the road to square off against Overland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Overland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three matches. As for Smoky Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smoky Hill is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 67 points per game this season.
