Baseball Recap: East Central Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

East Central entered their tilt with Rushville on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lions 13-1. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Joel Richter was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matchups. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Collin Harrill was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

East Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

East Central pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Rushville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

East Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against South Dearborn on the 5th. As for Rushville, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against North Decatur on the 30th.
