The Banning Pilots will square off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Banning had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Santee at home to the tune of 40-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Banning's zero-point performance the match before.
Banning's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robert Guerrero, who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in a rushing score. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Westley, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cleveland took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-21 win over Kennedy. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.
Kory Hall was his usual excellent self, picking up 295 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Hall was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards. Donovan Powell was another key contributor, rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Banning to 5-6 and Cleveland to 8-3.
