The Nordheim Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 55-27 loss at the hands of Pettus. Nordheim has struggled against Pettus recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Pettus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayleigh Cruz led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. Cruz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda Monson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Nordheim bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Pettus, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Nordheim will head out on the road to square off against Austwell-Tivoli at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Austwell-Tivoli comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Pettus, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Moulton at 6:15 p.m. Moulton's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Pettus' offense will have their work cut out for them.
