North Augusta has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Aiken recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. North Augusta will face off against South Aiken at 7:00 p.m. North Augusta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
North Augusta took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Airport 11-0. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lia Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had over her last 12 games.
In other pitching news, Avery Rushing looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Savannah Allen was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emily Geddes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
North Augusta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, South Aiken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Gray Collegiate Academy, falling 13-0.
North Augusta now has a winning record of 6-5. As for South Aiken, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
South Aiken's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Augusta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for South Aiken, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain North Augusta's hitters?
North Augusta took their win against South Aiken when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Augusta since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
