The Southwest SD Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Sweetwater Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Southwest SD got the win against Monte Vista by a conclusive 17-1.
Daniela Nieto and Sophia Borquez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Nieto pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Borquez struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Nieto went 3-for-5 with seven RBI, one triple, and one double, while Borquez went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Nieto a new career-high.

Southwest SD was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sweetwater). Everything went their way against Montgomery on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-5 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Aztecs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Southwest SD is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Sweetwater, their record now sits at 12-2-1.
Southwest SD suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Sweetwater in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
