Ben Holt College Prep Academy is 0-3 against Millennium since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Venture Academy 16-3.
Emma Valli was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Julieann Drulias was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Adryana Young, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Millennium had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Titans as they made off with a 14-1 win.
Like Ben Holt College Prep Academy, Millennium also got a great game from a two-way player: Cienna Espinoza. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Espinoza was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Millennium got a massive performance out of Nora Coutts, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gianna Negrete, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Millennium, their record is now 10-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ben Holt College Prep Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Millennium struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy came up short against Millennium when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-0. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
