After a string of three wins, the Coastal Christian Centurions's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-38 to Cape Fear Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Coastal Christian of the 44-27 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Tuesday.
Coastal Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Adgent and Aidan Davies. Adgent scored 14 points, while Davies scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adgent has scored all season.
Cape Fear Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kareem Anderson led the charge by scoring 13 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gibson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Coastal Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Cape Fear Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coastal Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Wayne Christian is ranked 231st, while the Centurions are ranked 243rd). As for Cape Fear Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Epiphany is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses.
