After flying high against the Lake County Panthers on Friday, the Arvada Bulldogs came back down to earth. Arvada had to suffer through a rough 61-29 loss at the hands of the Saints. Arvada lost against the Saints in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 46-42 score last time.
Arvada's loss on Saturday came despite strong showings from Emma Ngewasi and Taylor Dye. Ngewasi scored ten points along with six rebounds, while Dye scored nine points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 34.5% of Arvada's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jefferson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but T Nutter led the charge by scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meadow Mondragon, who scored 16 points.
Arvada's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Jefferson, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Arvada will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Englewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Saturday. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to challenge the Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Platte Canyon is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Saints a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
