The Hamilton Southeastern Royals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 82-63 victory over Carroll. Winning may never get old, but Hamilton Southeastern sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Hamilton Southeastern was led to victory by Maya Makalusky and Kennedy Holman. Makalusky scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Holman scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Makalusky has scored at least 25% of Hamilton Southeastern's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Stidham, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Carroll still got an impressive performance from Jersey Paul, who scored 26 points. The contest was Paul's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaidyn Fuller was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists.
Carroll struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hamilton Southeastern pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Carroll, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Hamilton Southeastern will head out on the road to face off against Westfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Hamilton Southeastern is ranked third). As for Carroll, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
