While it was all tied up 30-30 at halftime, the South Lake Eagles were not quite the Eustis Panthers's equal in the second half on Monday. South Lake fell to Eustis 62-58. While losing is never fun, South Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Eustis is ranked 90th).
Despite the loss, South Lake saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Pina dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Pina's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Mikey McLeod was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
South Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Eustis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
South Lake will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Real Life Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Eustis, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lake Minneola at 7:30 p.m.
