The Uintah Utes had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Rawlins by a score of 64-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Uintah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Murray led the charge by going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. That's the first time this season that Murray scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was JJ Jenson, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Rawlins lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jose Morales, who scored 22 points along with five assists. Morales scored a full 38.6% of Rawlins' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Allard, who scored 15 points.
Uintah's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Rawlins, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Uintah and Kelly Walsh will face off at 11:20 a.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rawlins won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rock Springs at 4:20 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Rock Springs is ranked 54th, while Rawlins is ranked 52nd).
