The Olentangy Liberty Patriots will square off against the Bishop Watterson Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Olentangy Liberty will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Olentangy Liberty barely beat Dublin Jerome the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots never let the Celtics get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Kailey McGinnis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Izzy Matteo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylen Depaul, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Watterson fell victim to Grove City and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Greyhounds, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Bishop Watterson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clare Feehan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Bishop Watterson has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Olentangy Liberty, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Bishop Watterson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Olentangy Liberty has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Bishop Watterson, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Olentangy Liberty's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Olentangy Liberty couldn't quite get it done against Bishop Watterson in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 as they fell 6-3. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
