Softball Recap: Rosepine Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Rosepine's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the DeQuincy Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Tigers on March 12th, they had to take a 14-5 loss.

Marli Jones25 made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, Analeigh Roberts was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cailyn Evans, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles.

Rosepine hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Rosepine has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for DeQuincy, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rosepine will square off against Eunice at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DeQuincy, they will face off against Pickering at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.79 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
