The Alamosa Mean Moose gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 76-19 victory over Ellicott. With Alamosa ahead 36-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Alamosa can attribute much of their success to Brant Jackson, who scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Parker Gilmore, who scored 12 points along with 7 assists.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Ellicott struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Alamosa racked up 15.
Alamosa's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Ellicott, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Alamosa will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lamar at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Lamar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Ellicott, they will head out on the road to face off against Salida at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
