The Enka Jets suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 60-25 defeat at the hands of McDowell. While losing is never fun, Enka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while McDowell is ranked 54th).
Averi Coggins was Enka's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Kylie Carver held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Kensly Stewart was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 15 points. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Stewart, who scored ten points.
Enka bumped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for McDowell, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Enka will challenge North Buncombe at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully North Buncombe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Wednesday. As for McDowell, they will head out on the road to take on Asheville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Asheville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
